After a year as World Builders Institute, it was time to hone our name to better reflect our work. With input from World Building Council members, we chose a gentle “tweak” — from World Builders Institute to World Builders Incubator allowing us to remain “WBI” while more accurately describing our purpose.
We just received final approval from the California Secretary of State; WBI is officially World Builders Incubator!
After a year under the wing of our wonderful fiscal sponsor, Creative Visions Foundation, we decided it was time to take the leap and become an independent nonprofit. We’re overjoyed to announce that our application is going in this month! During this transition, donations to WBI remain tax-deductible by giving through Creative Visions.

Esther Banegas Gatica is a bilingual playwright, screenwriter, actor, director, producer, translator, script consultant, and teaching artist who works to uplift the experiences of U.S. immigrants and women. Constantly showcasing through her creative work a more authentic representation of Latine stories.
For the past 25 years, Stacie has worked in the philanthropic field in the Bay Area and Hawai’i, helping to strengthen and build nonprofit stability and sustainability in the areas of social justice, the environment, and the arts.
Lauren Spencer is a bi-coastal actor, director, writer, educator, and community activist who has worked with major theatres across the country to build equitable and joyous spaces for creative process.
To beta-test WBI’s story development process, we invited a cohort of 8 volunteer writers to develop solutions-focused projects in any medium or genre of fiction. This talented cohort will meet monthly and their projects are thrilling!
The beta cohort is providing WBI with invaluable information. We now know for sure the Wheel of Possibilities is vitally needed for story inspiration and information.

World issues are complex, and tracking their interconnectivity can be like untangling a Gordian know, but we did it! WBI began with over 120 complex social and environmental issues. After months of careful combining, editing, and organizing, we’re thrilled to announce that we have 50 clear issues for the Wheel of Possibilities!
We know that no list of 50 issues will ever be complete in an ever-changing world, but we have a great place to start! Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to make this first-of-its-kind gathering of solutions possible.
